SYDNEY, N.S. — Advantage Halifax.
The Halifax Hurricanes did battle with the Cape Breton Highlanders and came out on top on Monday night at Centre 200 in Sydney Cape Breton. Game 3 was a close one, but the Hurricanes finished out the fourth quarter for the 92-89 win.
It was a close contest the whole way through, with the Hurricanes heading into halftime down by six and shooting poorly from beyond the arc. The Hurricanes also had trouble taking care of the ball in the first half, leading to 20 points for the Highlanders.
The Hurricanes and Highlanders traded leads throughout the second half, right up until the final minutes of the game.
Mike Poole was a fourth-quarter hero for Halifax, hitting back-to-back threes and some timely free-throws to help Halifax reach the finish line. He finished with game highs in points,23, and rebounds 13. Poole also dished out five assists in his 43 minutes of play.
Four other Hurricanes finished in double figures, including Rhamel Brown with 14 points, eight boards and two blocks. Jordan Washington also poured in 14 points in 27 minutes off the bench.
Terry Thomas scored 12 points, while Joel Kindred netted 11 in the win.
The Hurricanes now lead the best of five series 2-1 and will look to eliminate Cape Breton on Wednesday night, Apr. 10, at Centre 200. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on www.NBLCLive.ca!
