The Cleveland Cavaliers are continuing to negotiate the potential departure of Max Strus, as reported by journalist Marc Stein.
Having already agreed to the trade of Dennis Schröder to the Hornets, the Ohio team seeks to shed Strus’s salary in order to sign Jonathan Kuminga, or alternatively to pursue the restricted free agent Peyton Watson.
The Strus in question is in the final year of his contract, valued at $16.7 million.
It is worth noting that, with Schröder’s exit, they saved $6.8 million in salaries, and they sit $30 million below the salary cap.
Strus arrived in Cleveland in 2023, and since then he has appeared in 132 official games, averaging 11 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
