According to journalist Marc Stein, the Washington Wizards offered Russell Westbrook a two-year contract before announcing his retirement from the court.
Furthermore, the veteran point guard also had a proposal for a one-season deal with the Sacramento Kings; however, he ultimately rejected both offers and decided to end his professional playing career.
Although the Wizards’ project might have seemed appealing to him with Trae Young and Anthony Davis, the role and the minutes offered by the capital club were not satisfactory.
It is worth remembering that Westbrook had already worn the Wizards’ colors in the 2020-21 season, posting averages of 22.2 points, 11.5 rebounds and 11.7 assists per game.
