Low-profile move completed by the New Orleans Pelicans, who after closely assessing Malik Dia’s abilities have decided to sign him to a two-way contract; as reported by Shams Charania of ESPN.
Although undrafted in the most recent draft, the Ole Miss product performed quite well in the Summer League with the Louisiana franchise, averaging 10 points and 5.8 rebounds in July.
Indeed, such performances have carried forward the form shown in his final college year, in which the 24-year-old forward/power forward posted averages of 14.5 points and 5.7 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game.
The role of Malik Dia remains to be seen, as the team’s new head coach, Jamahl Mosley, will weigh when to utilize him in order to give a boost to the Pelicans’ interior game.
