Another one of the summer’s transfer sagas has come to an end.
James Harden has sealed a contract extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers for three additional years and $97 million, ESPN reported.
The third year will be optional for The Beard, and it also includes a trade kicker that would award him an extra payout if he is dealt.
The Cavaliers have been operating with precision through the final month of the off-season.
First, they completed the departure of Dennis Schröder to the Hornets and, subsequently, executed the trade for Peyton Watson from the Denver Nuggets.
Thus, Kenny Atkinson’s squad will feature an outstanding starting five with Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Watson, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen as they aim to challenge for the Eastern Conference crown.
Last season he appeared in 26 official games with the Cavaliers, posting averages of 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.
