One of the most intriguing unrestricted free agents still on the shrinking market, and finally, it is the Golden State Warriors who have chosen to roll the dice with Brandon Williams. It isn’t a big bet, as they’ve given him only a one-year contract at about $2.6 million. Yet it is an interesting move for Golden State’s bench.
The guard has taken a long time to find a new team after delivering a more than acceptable role in the opportunities he had especially with the Dallas Mavericks. In fact, whispers were already starting to hint at the possibility of crossing the ocean toward Europe, toward the EuroLeague.
The 26-year-old played 66 games with the Texas franchise last season. Averaging 13 points, 3.9 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 22 minutes per night. By far his best NBA numbers despite the mediocre shooting percentages.
Now he arrives to be, presumably, the third point guard for the Warriors behind Stephen Curry and Brandin Podziemski. Although a leap by the latter to the starting five and the health concerns Curry has been dealing with could give him more playing time than expected.
