The New Orleans Pelicans have announced the release of veteran Taj Gibson after the trade from the Memphis Grizzlies was officially completed.
It should be recalled that on September 8 he was part of a transaction, alongside his teammate AJ Johnson, aimed at freeing cap space ahead of Bennedict Mathurin’s signing.
The aforementioned Mathurin accepted, after a long back-and-forth, a contract for 2 years and 16 million dollars.
Gibson, 41 years old, joined Memphis as a midseason reinforcement to appear in ten official games, posting averages of 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest.
Over the course of his NBA career he has played for the Chicago Bulls, OKC Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets.
