Danilo Gallinari isn’t the kind of player who tends to mince his words.
If not long ago he labeled himself the NBA’s greatest “what if”, he has now returned with further tantalizing comments about the Clippers’ salary setup surrounding Kawhi Leonard.
“I should pay the 50 million dollars,” he said on the podcast A Cresta Alta.
“It changed the course of my career and put me in a very tough spot by having to leave Los Angeles,” he admitted.
Gallinari, who played for the Clippers between 2017 and 2019, was forced to leave the team at Kawhi’s behest, who requested the arrival of Paul George from the OKC Thunder.
Gallinari moved to the Thunder with his now franchise cornerstone Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
“What happened to my career wasn’t decided by a general manager or an owner. It was decided by a player who felt the team wasn’t good enough and wanted something different,” he stressed.
“That money he has earned should go to charitable causes. He should pay the 50 million, and not the 700.00 dollars,” he concluded.
