Zion Williamson: No Regrets

October 2, 2026

It’s 2026, and it’s almost forgotten that seven years ago it was announced that someone who could define an era would arrive in the NBA—a Zion Williamson whose physical attributes and the way they combined made him something never seen before. Well, time has passed, and we can almost say that we haven’t seen that yet.

Although from the outset it was clear that his basketball could be unstoppable, there is one thing that no one escapes—no matter how good he is—the dreaded injuries, which have dragged him down to the point that he now faces his eighth season as a New Orleans Pelicans player, and the feeling is that he still hasn’t taken off.

Precisely for that reason, because time passes and doesn’t come back, during the team’s introductory press conference they asked him how it feels to have spent so long in the league and whether he would tell something to the 19-year-old Zion who arrived in the American competition. The forward doesn’t beat around the bush.

Yet again this season, the New Orleans Pelicans are not among the favorites to surprise in the Western Conference, where last season they finished 11th with a 26-56 record. However, we start from scratch again, and it’s hard not to cling to at least a small hope that Zion will finally change his story.
