Jalen Duren Accepts Pistons’ Offer

October 2, 2026

One of the last summer sagas has come to an end.

Jalen Duren will remain with the Detroit Pistons. The center has reached an agreement to sign a five-year, $200 million contract extension, ESPN reported.

After a summer-long back-and-forth in which Duren and his agent pursued a maximum salary that ultimately they did not secure, both sides had to give way to reach a solution.

The Pistons benefit because they did not sign him for the max, and Duren also benefits because all the money is guaranteed and there are no added clauses.

His Possible Salary

  • 2026-27: $34.5 million.
  • 2027-28: $37.2 million.
  • 2028-29: $42.8 million.
  • 2029-30: $45.5 million.

In recent days there had been speculation about a potential sign-and-trade with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Sacramento Kings, and even the Washington Wizards.

Ultimately that did not come to pass, and Duren will continue as a Piston for at least five more seasons.

It’s worth noting that last season he was selected to participate in the All-Star Game and was named to the NBA’s Third Team.
