To that end, the Texas-based franchise has parted ways with the third-longest-tenured player who had been accumulating time with a single squad. Only surpassed by Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. He had played 763 games donning the Mavericks jersey, the fifth player with the most appearances in Dallas’s organization.
Although he continued to log minutes, Powell had already spent several years with diminished on-court relevance. His defensive lapses had always been an issue, but his athleticism allowed him to deliver highly efficient seasons as Luka Dončić’s pick-and-roll partner.
Now, at 35 and with rosters largely settled, it will be tough for him to find a new team.
