The New York Knicks could spoil the Los Angeles Lakers’ “Plan B.”
Recently, Bruce Brown’s name has been linked to the Knicks after negotiations for Jonathan Kuminga fell through.
Nevertheless, the defending NBA champions are being talked about as a strong option for a one-year stint at the veteran minimum.
It’s worth noting that Brown, the 2023 NBA champion with the Nuggets, would arrive as an unrestricted free agent since he is currently without a team.
“There’s been a lot of chatter that the Lakers want Bruce Brown after losing Kuminga in free agency. But I’m not sure I buy that. I have doubts about the Lakers. Can they land him? Maybe. But I see the Knicks as a very realistic option,” said Brett Siegel.
The Knicks would view Bruce Brown, who, by the way, already knows what it’s like to play in New York, as a Josh Hart 2.0 for their rotation.
At 30 years old, he can serve as a playmaker; he can defend multiple positions, and this past season he shot 47.5% from the field.
“He could arrive at the Knicks and play a role similar to Josh Hart. I think he would fit in very well,” Siegel emphasized.
The truth is that his NBA career has been somewhat uphill since he decided to sign a two-year, $45 million contract with the Indiana Pacers.
After cashing in, he subsequently spent time with the Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Pelicans, and a second stint with the Nuggets.
Last season he averaged 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 24.4 minutes per night.
