The predictions about Dalton Knecht came true. Not long after we noted that the Lakers would part ways with him, that plan was carried out and he became free to sign with another team, something that, according to various reports, should happen in the near future.
The most interesting thing for him is that this next step in his career could come from a franchise with immediate title aspirations; so much so that the New York Knicks are in the running to land him.
According to Ian Begley of SNYtv, the reigning champions would want to reinforce their wings and they see the former Angelino as a great option for it, especially since he is viewed almost as a bargain given that he would arrive via a two-way contract.
And what other teams are in the mix? The Minnesota Timberwolves. In this case, it is Marc Stein who puts the name on the table. The Wolves, who opened the season with a blowout of Giannis Antetokounmpo, also believe that Knecht would be a low-risk addition that could give them a boost.

Beyond the two contenders already mentioned, Jake Fischer notes that the Sacramento Kings are also pursuing Knecht, even more so after the serious injury suffered by Ben Simmons before the season began.
And there’s more. The Chicago Bulls, who were negotiating a trade with the Lakers, remain in the mix; and you can’t overlook others like the Toronto Raptors, who want to bolster the backcourt and provide another option for outside shooting for the team.
