The San Antonio Spurs closed the 2025-26 season with a sour taste in their mouths. It could not have gone any other way, because after eliminating the Thunder (then reigning champions), they fell in the Finals to the New York Knicks. Nevertheless, the team’s future looks bright, not only because Victor Wembanyama is on the roster, but also because others like Dylan Harper have made it clear they possess a special talent.
The now sophomore showed the poise of a veteran rookie, becoming the sixth man on a team built to contend. Looking ahead to the coming season, this Rutgers Scarlet Knights project appears convinced he can take another step forward.
“I took a few weeks off after the season. I gave myself time to organize my thoughts. Simply… I evaluated the year and the Finals, and tried to understand what I must do from now on, both for me and for the team, to get past that last hurdle,” he says in an interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson.

Demostrando una vez más su madurez, este joven de 20 años no está para nada preocupado por haber sido titular apenas cuatro veces la campaña pasada; tanto es así que aclara su relación con su principal competidor, un De’Aaron Fox con quien sabe llevarse muy bien.
“Fox me recibió bajo su tutoría durante mi primer año; me ayudó y me permitió crecer en este entorno. La verdad es que él y yo nunca tuvimos ningún problema. Nunca he visto inconveniente en jugar con dos o tres manejadores en la cancha. El año pasado todos decían que eso no funcionaría, que si esto o aquello, pero creo que salió bastante bien. Creo que superamos las expectativas con creces…”, afirma before underscoring that they also spend time together off the court.
“I have nothing bad to say about him because, after all, he has taught me so much. He has taught me a lot about the league, about how to work hard and how to take control of the game. I have a close relationship with him… Every time I see his son or his family, we feel very connected. We have a great relationship; I joke with him all the time, saying he’s like my uncle. He teaches me things that I don’t think anyone else, without having been in his position, could teach me,” he concludes.
