Ja Morant: Another Player Added to the Injured List

October 30, 2026

The injury bug has undoubtedly been the worst news of this early stretch of the regular season. Over the past week and a half, it had seemed there wasn’t a single day when one of the league’s marquee names wasn’t sidelined by physical issues. And the streak may have continued overnight.

Ja Morant had to leave the Trail Blazers’ game against the Grizzlies with an apparent issue, after being seen grabbing the back of his leg shortly before being substituted. The franchise said the discomfort originated in his left hamstring, where he felt a sting that forced him to leave the floor.

It’s unclear how much precaution influenced the guard’s decision, who just seconds earlier had been playing normally. Micah Nori could only confirm that more details would emerge later today, so until that happens it’s impossible to determine whether this is a serious issue or just a scare. Nevertheless, given this season’s track record, it’s hard not to start feeling pessimistic whenever something like this happens.

A stoppage would be hard news for Ja Morant, who began his stint in Portland with strong impressions. Despite last night’s defeat, the Trail Blazers have shown themselves to be one of the league’s most in-form teams in these early stages and have looked like one of the most entertaining and efficient offenses, a lot of which stems from the former Grizzlies guard’s ability to slash to the basket and create. If luck is on their side, those strengths will be on display in the upcoming games.
