The start of Jaylen Wells’ career has been more than interesting, with two seasons as a steady piece in the Memphis Grizzlies’ rotation; however, he himself feels he needs to take a step forward to certify his place in the NBA.
Along those lines, as he enters his third professional year, the 22-year-old wing is working to improve all facets of his game; yet there is one area that concerns him especially and on which he is placing particular emphasis to remove it as a weakness.
«I think my biggest weakness was in reading the pick-and-roll. I think it’s something I really wanted to work on, and it’s something I’m working on,» he said in statements gathered by Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal.
The starting point for Wells to become a better player is solid. In the 2024-25 season he finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting and in the latest, the 2025-26 season, he averaged 12.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists with a 35.3 percent mark from three, playing in 69 games as a starter.
