The Utah Jazz are going all in. After finally moving to reinforce the roster with the arrival of Jaren Jackson Jr. and not to undermine their chances, the Salt Lake City franchise has secured Keyonte George’s future. He has signed a five-year deal totaling $157.5 million. A portion of that total is tied to targets ($500,000 per year and $2.5 million in total), according to Jake Fischer.
The Jazz are used to seeing salaries above $30 million per year go to superstar players, so this might look like an overpay. In reality, it’s closer to a bargain. George signs for a figure comparable to what Jaden McDaniels, Devin Vassell, Jalen Johnson, or Jalen Suggs landed in recent deals. And in his previous season, he averaged 23.6 points and 6.1 assists with solid shooting percentages. In short: he has the potential to be one of the world’s top scorers.
The Jazz guard will carry an average annual salary of $31.5 million through 2032, starting with $27.1 million this coming season and with no player or team option in the final year. This means the Jazz have secured their Big Three through 2029 with this contract.
