Klay Thompson signed with the Mavericks with the aim of contending for another championship alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
However, his joy would prove to be short-lived, as Nico Harrison decided to move the Slovenian in a move that proved disastrous for the Mavericks’ future ambitions.
Thompson, at the twilight of his career, has acknowledged that he wants to compete for another title, leaving the door open to a possible exit from the Mavs, whether through a trade or ultimately through release.
“I want to compete for another championship. Not necessarily to win it, but to have the opportunity to achieve another,” he acknowledged.
“I want to be part of a team that can go far in the playoffs, whether this season or the next. That’s my only goal,” he emphasized.
This coming season will mark the final year of his guaranteed contract, valued at 17 million dollars.
Since donning the Mavericks’ jersey, he has posted averages of 12.9 points and 2.8 rebounds on 39% from three.
