Miles McBride has acknowledged feeling disappointed with the New York Knicks after this past summer failed to secure a contract extension.
By contrast, teammates such as Alvarado, Shamet, or the young Diawara did manage to secure extensions.
Alvarado signed a new deal for $15 million; Shamet for $24 million, and Diawara for $10 million.
McBride’s case is quite peculiar, as he has consistently performed above his market value. However, in the playoffs he ended up losing his place in the rotation to his own teammates Alvarado and Shamet.
His expiring contract of $3.95 million is expected to be traded soon alongside the young Pâcome Dadiet.
The objective would be nothing other than to obtain a reserve center for his rotation, with the top favorite being Moussa Diabate of the Charlotte Hornets.
“I love being in New York. Obviously I have spent my entire professional career here,” McBride said.
“I’m a little… You know. Disappointed. Of course I want to reach an agreement and stay in New York. So yes. Sometimes it’s hard to act as a professional, but I have to. I want to go out and do my job. I’ll help my teammates as much as I can,” he emphasized.
McBride, 26 years old, arrived in the Knicks in 2021 after being selected in the second round of the Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Since then he has played 277 official games with averages of 7.1 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
