As Brian Windhorst, a journalist for ESPN, reports, the franchise holds a degree of optimism regarding the guard’s rehabilitation timeline, leaving open the possibility of a late-year return that could provide a playoff boost.
DiVincenzo suffered a ruptured Achilles at the end of April, a recovery period that can vary greatly from one case to another. This very year we’ve seen Jayson Tatum return to action in under 10 months, while Damian Lillard and Tyus Haliburton missed an entire season, underscoring the uncertainty in such cases. And although Minnesota has made it clear they will not push Donte to return earlier than planned, they do not rule out the possibility that it could happen naturally.
There Will Be No Trade
This leads to a second key point: the Timberwolves have no intention of trading the guard. Many have contemplated the possibility that, since he is in the final year of his contract and may not play, the franchise could pursue a move to acquire perhaps not a superior player but at least one who would be more readily available. Windhorst has dismissed this possibility out of hand.
“I want to be clear: there is no intention to trade him,” he stated.
