Mitchell: If I Had a Ring, Harden Would Argue With LeBron and KD

October 8, 2026

Surely James Harden may be the most underappreciated player of his generation. The playoff hiccups and hesitations about his playing style have led many to overlook a historic scorer. Is this compatible with admitting that he isn’t better than LeBron James, Kevin Durant, or Stephen Curry? Although there are players like Donovan Mitchell who don’t entirely agree.

The Cavaliers’ star was asked about veterans such as Durant and James when comparing them to his teammate for the past few months. “I truly think he’s outside of those conversations only because he hasn’t won a championship. I’ve always felt that, but being his teammate is another world,” Mitchell responded.

“Watching him in training camp, his passion and influence in the group, his oratory, his drive to be the best at what he does. It really puts that mess of narratives into perspective, and how something isn’t understood until you see it from the other side.”

·This past postseason, the former Utah Jazz star has broken his drought in the conference finals, partly thanks to having Harden as a teammate. Yet, once again, the team fell short of being competitive against the Knicks in that penultimate round of the playoffs. Now, with both players extended and Peyton Watson just arrived, Mitchell has in his hands the opportunity to bring Harden into those conversations.
