Vin Baker: New Addition to the Miami Heat

August 22, 2026

A move aimed at both strengthening their coaching staff and pleasing Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Miami Heat have carried out by hiring Vin Baker.

The former iconic center for the Milwaukee Bucks and Seattle SuperSonics brings his stint as an assistant with the Wisconsin franchise to an end to join a Heat team that sees in him a piece capable of balancing their new project around The Greek Freak.

According to Chris Haynes, who broke the news, Baker’s arrival in Miami to join Erik Spoelstra’s staff is anything but casual, as he maintains a very close bond with Giannis.

As a member of the group that earned the 2021 championship ring, he now must play a pivotal role in helping Antetokounmpo deliver his best version in a venture that the Greek star has said excites him greatly, while at the same time placing on him the responsibility to bring a title to the Florida franchise.

Looking ahead to training camp, the Greek small forward has stressed that he intends to arrive a few days before the official start to set the tone for a squad that, within hours, will welcome Klay Thompson, who has agreed to a buyout with the Dallas Mavericks.
