Warriors Bet Big on Brandin Podziemski

October 10, 2026

In the San Francisco Bay Area, they have already priced in both his level of confidence and his level of desperation. Brandin Podziemski, the 23-year-old guard, will sign a five-year, $110 million extension; as reported by Shams Charania of ESPN, based on information provided by his agent, Bill Duffy.

We’re talking about a long-term, fully guaranteed extension that includes a player option for the final season, 2031-32, as well as a trade kicker.

The new deal will commence in the 2027-28 season, with a salary of $18.9 million that will rise gradually through the duration of the contract. Before that, Podziemski will serve out the final year of the rookie-scale, earning around $5.7 million.

A Preventive Investment

The deal will average around $22 million per year and allows the player to begin his fourth season with a financially settled future, so that if he had passive suffrage rights on the upcoming November 29, he would not go to the polls constrained by housing policies.

For the Golden State Warriors, meanwhile, this represents a maneuver to lock in a favorable price should Podziemski eventually blossom into a top-tier player.

Podziemski comes off a season of 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists, playing all 82 regular-season games, 43 of them as a starter. He also converted 37.1% of his threes and knocked down 153 perimeter attempts, the second-highest figure on the team behind Stephen Curry’s 190.

Drafted 19th overall in the 2023 NBA draft, he has logged 220 regular-season games with Golden State and a single playoff appearance in his career (2024-25).
