Almost a month after his departure from the Sacramento Kings, DeMar DeRozan is still searching for a team. But the fact that nothing has been formalized yet doesn’t mean there isn’t interest in his profile. If a few days ago the Detroit Pistons were mentioned as a potential suitor, in recent hours more clubs have joined the list, with the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Denver Nuggets signaling their desire to add one of the most intriguing names remaining on the market.
According to Shams Charania, a reporter for ESPN, these three franchises are looking for the scoring punch that the shooting guard can still provide, even at nearly 37 years old. With 18.4 points per game and a shooting accuracy that has been among the best of his career (49.7%), his offensive abilities remain beyond question, and although his role on a big team may no longer be stellar, there are plenty of rosters that could benefit from his addition.
It’s not surprising, therefore, that the profile of all the teams cited by Charania seems to line up. There is talent in them, but none appears to be reaching the 2026-27 season at the top tier of the pyramid; all seem to lack something to be in the real fight for the championship. And who knows if that missing something is a DeRozan capable of supplying scoring to the second unit.
