Tyler Herro has shown a clear enthusiasm for playing with the Bucks since his arrival. Born on the outskirts of Milwaukee, returning home represents a fresh opportunity for the guard after leaving a Heat team whose locker-room atmosphere had begun to sour, allowing him to reset and enjoy a new environment. One where, however, there is no guarantee he will be able to stay for long.
With his contract set to expire in 2027, Herro faces this season with a somewhat uncertain future, but that does not appear to worry him. In his latest remarks, he has made it clear that a potential extension isn’t on his mind at the moment, and that he wants to focus on playing rather than pressing that conversation on the franchise.
“I’m not worried about it right now,” he stated. “It’s a fresh start for me, for the coaching staff, and really for the entire organization, so I don’t think anyone should be burdened with that weight.”
An Uncertain Future
Herro’s situation has been the subject of questions since his arrival, with many people expecting the Bucks to move him in exchange for additional draft picks to push forward with their rebuild. With a young core to shape and many backcourt players on the roster needing minutes and learning, his fit in the rotation might not come entirely naturally.
At the same time, one could imagine that the possibility of moving him could also be appealing to him, who might prefer to move to a more competitive environment and with higher aspirations. Yet, in his words he conveys genuine excitement about playing for his hometown team and proving how far he can go on a team that, at least in terms of talent and experience, starts as the No. 1.
“With my arrival in Milwaukee, I’m more eager to prove myself than ever,” he acknowledged. “With this new start and this new team, we all have it in us. Jenkins, the teammates who arrived in trades with me… This isn’t just about me; everyone wants to prove themselves. There are people who think we won’t win many games, but we disagree. We want to win as much as possible and establish a culture from the start.”
