Dennis Schröder is set to play for his twelfth NBA team.
Recently he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets from Cleveland in a deal that sent Tre Mann to the Cavaliers.
The guard, who is currently with his national team in training camp, spoke recently with the outlet Eurohoops.net about his new professional situation.
“I’ve known this for about a month. From a basketball standpoint, I think Charlotte is the ideal place for me,” he emphasized.
Schröder is shaping up as the primary backup point guard to Coby White, with a meaningful role in coach Charles Lee’s rotation.
A role that, on teams like the Detroit Pistons, behind Cade Cunningham, has proven to suit him quite well.
“When you have two legends at your position who absorb so much of the ball and play one-on-one, it becomes extremely difficult,” he acknowledged.
“In Charlotte they’ll let me play the way I usually do,” he concluded.
Under Kenny Atkinson’s guidance, he averaged 8.2 points and 4.3 assists in 21 minutes per game.
