Nick Richards signed with the Miami Heat at the buzzer on a one-year, non-guaranteed contract worth about $3 million.
The market hasn’t been perfect for Richards, as he has recently acknowledged; however, he believes he has arrived in the perfect situation to redirect his NBA career.
“I know I’m in the perfect situation for me,” he told the Miami Herald.
“From my standpoint, from my team’s, from my agent’s… Free agency hasn’t gone as we planned. But I think we should seize this opportunity. And we’ll move forward. Showing up every day, being myself, and doing what the team needs,” he explained.
Richards wore the colors of Phoenix and Chicago last season, leaving a positive impression during his stint with the Windy City franchise.
In 20 official games he posted averages of 9.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game under Billy Donovan.
“I’ve felt that many teams have let me slip by and I believe I deserve more. So it’s time to prove to all those who were mistaken,” he concluded.
