Let the Hunger Games begin! After John Konchar and Drew Eubanks recently signed with the New York Knicks, Bruce Brown, James Wiseman, and Ochai Agbaji will also compete for the two remaining spots on the champions’ roster.
Training camp is just around the corner, and veterans who don’t have much room left in the league are scrambling to join the Knicks. Who would have thought not that long ago.
The Knicks are leaning on these final market moves to strengthen their wings and their inside rotation. So it’s reasonable to expect that only one player per position will stay.
- Konchar split his season between Memphis and Utah, averaging 4.4 points and 4.3 rebounds.
- Brown looked off in his return to Denver, though his averages were decent: 7.9 points and 3.9 rebounds.
- Agbaji has fallen short of the promise he showed upon entering the NBA, stagnating and ending up bounced around in Brooklyn. There he averaged 6.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 20 games.
- Eubanks is a veteran with obvious limitations as an interior presence, especially regarding mobility, but he is solid on the boards. This past season he averaged 5.2 points and 3 rebounds in Sacramento.
- We all know the case of James Wiseman, though it’s easy to have lost track of him. The No. 2 pick in the 2020 Draft appeared in only four games with the Pacers during a 10-day contract.
