The Washington Wizards have executed a low-profile move. Ahead of a season that looks set to be exciting, with Trae Young and Anthony Davis as the marquee stars, and with AJ Dybantsa owning the No. 1 pick, the capital team have also brought Anthony Gill into the fold, a familiar face in recent campaigns.
Although undrafted, the 33-year-old forward has accumulated up to six seasons wearing the Wizards jersey, appearing in 285 games for the franchise. In the most recent campaign he took part in 55 games, posting averages of 5.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
Signing year after year, and while the specifics of his new deal have not been disclosed, it is likely to be another minimum-salary agreement, given that Washington operates under a strict spending cap dictated by the league’s first apron.
To integrate Gill into the roster, the capital club does not need to make any additional moves, as they had only 14 standard contracts on the books, with 13 of them guaranteed.

A product of the University of Virginia, Gill went undrafted in 2016, which led him to begin his career abroad. He first played in Turkey with Yesilgiresun Belediye and later spent three years with Khimki Moscow Region, a club that at the time competed in the EuroLeague. His solid play opened the doors to the NBA, where the Wizards continue to trust him.
