The Sacramento Kings have confirmed that Ben Simmons will serve as their starting point guard in the season opener for 2026-27 against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Their coach Doug Christie is highly satisfied with his performance and will give him another chance in the league to team up with rookie Darius Acuff Jr. in the initial backcourt.
Additionally, Zach LaVine, Keegan Murray and the center Domantas Sabonis will also be in the starting lineup.

It is worth noting that Simmons arrived as a free agent to the Kings after attracting interest from the Golden State Warriors and the New York Knicks, although it was actually the California-based Warriors who were the only ones to offer him a contract.
He signed a one-year non-guaranteed deal, and it was up to him to earn a spot on the roster.
Ultimately, that is how it turned out, and the Australian managed to convince Christie’s coaching staff.
He debuted against the Warriors with seven points and one assist in seven minutes on the floor.
