The Warriors and Brandin Podziemski are reportedly working on a potential contract extension.
However, according to sources close to journalist Marc Stein, the San Francisco franchise could delay it until the summer of 2027, as they would have more salary cap space.
They currently have $220 million in salaries already committed, and for the upcoming season they will free up the contracts of Jimmy Butler III, Draymond Green, or Stephen Curry.
Linked to Podziemski’s future is Curry’s, as Dunleavy has already made clear that they want him to retire as a Warrior and will offer him everything within their power.
“When he’s on the court, we’re a better team. So, when you have a player like that, you always want to retain him,” Dunleavy admitted about Podziemski’s future.
“Obviously we have several ways to do it. Restricted free agency, etc. But we prefer to close it as soon as possible,” he emphasized.
Podziemski will earn nearly $6 million next season, and for the 2027-28 campaign they have the $8.6 million qualifying offer available.
Last year he played all 82 regular-season games with averages of 13.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 28.5 minutes per game.
