The No. 2 pick of the 2023 draft is, according to information from Shams Charania (ESPN), the one marked to witness the next flood of millions. It is true that the physical issues he has endured along the way are something to consider, but under no circumstances do they make the Charlotte Hornets doubt the suitability of sealing a long-term commitment with the Alabama product.
With October 19 as the deadline for these extensions, the cited journalist asserts that conversations between the player and the team have intensified — they’ve been negotiating since the start of summer — so an agreement between the parties should be reached; that said, he does not provide a ballpark date for the green light, noting that it could be a matter of days or weeks.
From where they are giving no hint is the North Carolina franchise. And how many millions are we talking about? Well, according to Sports Illustrated the Brandon Miller extension will be in the region of $185–$200 million over five years. That sounds like logical figures. It doesn’t reach the $252 million of Wembanyama, it comes close to the $208 million of Amen Thompson and is well above his brother Ausar’s and Keyonte George’s. It should be sealed.
