From words to actions. More than two months ago we learned that the Miami Heat had highlighted in red the name of Klay Thompson as a possible addition, something that is now taking shape officially with the franchise in Florida announcing the shooting guard’s signing.
Having already moved beyond the waiver list, the NBA’s all-time leader in made threes has signed a two-year deal worth $13 million, the second year contingent on a player option.
The deal seems to be more than favorable for both sides. Klay has always shown a passion for the sea, and now he will have it close to him once again. In addition, being on the East Coast will place him near the Bahamas, the island from which part of his family comes. As for the Heat, they add the coveted shooter to complement their major star, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Now part of Miami’s new project, the team president, Pat Riley, dedicates these words to him. “Klay is one of the most emblematic players to have ever played in the NBA. A four-time champion, battle-hardened, who will fit perfectly in his role on both ends of the court. We all talk about his shooting ability, but he brings much more to the game. We feel fortunate that Klay has chosen the Heat in our pursuit of championships”.
