Lakers Count on Bronny James

August 6, 2026

The Los Angeles Lakers are counting on Bronny James for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

According to The Athletic, despite his father’s recent departure, who has yet to announce his next destination, the Lakers will not trade their young player.

It should be noted that in early June they guaranteed his contract worth $2.3 million.

Selected by the Lakers themselves with the 55th pick of the 2024 Draft, under JJ Redick’s guidance he appeared in 42 official games, averaging 2.9 points and 1.2 rebounds in 8.9 minutes of play.

Well regarded inside and outside the locker room, Bronny will battle for minutes alongside Collin Sexton, the rookie Cameron Carr, and Jaden Hardy.

Meanwhile his father, an unrestricted free agent, continues to refrain from announcing his next destination, although the Cavaliers are pegged as the favorites.

The Warriors, Timberwolves, Miami Heat, and more recently the Philadelphia 76ers have also been mentioned.
