The Orlando Magic have made a very low-risk bet. The Florida franchise has finalized the signing of Malaki Branham, but according to Michael Scotto of Hoopshype, his stay with the roster is not guaranteed.
Although the terms of the deal have not been disclosed, the 23-year-old guard is said to have signed an Exhibit 10 contract, which means he is far from guaranteed to spend the season with the Magic, a roster spot the team is expected to secure in the coming weeks.
Having been selected 20th overall in the 2022 draft, Branham has averaged 8 points per game over the four seasons he has spent in the NBA, suiting up for both the San Antonio Spurs and the Washington Wizards. The total tally? 216 games.
Looking ahead to Orlando’s campaign, the truth is they seem to have lost some momentum compared to previous seasons. Other teams like the Miami Heat or Philadelphia 76ers seem to be quite a bit ahead, including in that mix the champions New York Knicks and others such as the Cleveland Cavaliers.
