Ricky: I Returned to Badalona to Leave a Legacy

September 10, 2026

After a year out for personal reasons, Ricky Rubio agreed to return to Joventut de Badalona last summer, in 2025.

The prodigal son was returning to the team that witnessed his ACB debut at merely 14 years of age.

And recently, taking advantage of the lead-up to the Catalan League, Rubio spoke to the media where he stressed that his return to Joventut made total sense for him.

“I didn’t come back here just to play basketball, but also to leave a legacy in the city and at the club. I want this project to keep progressing. There are aspects we can improve, and I want everyone to share that ambition so that this club returns to the place it deserves,” he admitted.

His first outing with the white-and-blues was particularly notable with 19 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals against Covirán Granada.

He was an essential part of the remarkable campaign they led, finishing sixth in the regular season with a 22-12 record, and then falling to Valencia Basket 3-0 in the Semifinals.

“Last season we achieved very ambitious objectives, and comparing them to those of this season will be very difficult. We couldn’t retain some of our players due to our budget,” he noted.
