Sacramento Offered Sabonis for Duren

August 5, 2026

The Kings have chosen to fish in troubled waters, taking advantage of Jalen Duren’s discontent with the Pistons, and have recently attempted a trade for him.

According to The Athletic, the California franchise put Domantas Sabonis on the table to pursue a sign-and-trade for the still-unrestricted free agent,

With that move, were they willing to offer him the maximum salary? Probably. Sabonis doesn’t figure prominently, or at all, in the Kings’ future, who find themselves entering a new rebuilding phase after the departures of De’Aaron Fox and more recently DeRozan.

For his part, Duren and the Pistons continue to wrestle with their future, and the player could sign only a one-year deal with a qualifying offer to pursue a trade, i.e., a salary of $9.5 million.

Sabonis still has two years left on his contract, valued at $45 million and $48 million respectively.

Last year he disappeared from the map with barely 19 games played and averages of 16 points and 11 rebounds per game.
