Andrew Bogut has backed Ben Simmons’ return to the Australian national team.
The former Clippers player has recently taken part in a training camp aimed at preparing for the upcoming 2027 World Cup.
This is Simmons’ first time with the senior national team, since he had previously only worn the Boomers colors as a teenager.
“I hope he can return to the NBA, and, hopefully, one day he will play with us,” Bogut said.
“He’s a versatile player. An elite defender. And when he’s in the right mindset, he can create a lot of problems for you on offense,” he stressed.
The Australian coach, Adam Caporn, also commented on Simmons’ future possibilities with the national team.
“If you ask me whether I see a future with him, I would say yes. Absolutely,” he acknowledged.
Meanwhile, Simmons remains without a team as he waits to receive a firm offer to play in the NBA.
So far he has only received a few, but they involve non-guaranteed contracts.
