Paul George still can’t believe it.
The veteran wing was traded this summer from Philadelphia as part of Boston’s plan surrounding Jaylen Brown’s departure.
A move that still stirs emotions among Boston fans, but as Brad Stevens acknowledged, the new salary cap rules will shape the futures of teams.
George, for his part, is “delighted” with his arrival to the Celtics and is eager to begin the 2026-27 season.
“It’s incredible. I’m ecstatic,” George said.
“I can’t wait to start this new chapter. I’m excited to wear green and to represent the city of Boston,” he admitted.
The deal was sealed between Jaylen Brown and Paul George, along with two future first-round picks and two additional second-round picks for the Celtics.
He has two seasons left on the contract valued at $54 million, and the final year will be a player option worth $56 million.
Last season, after serving his suspension, George stood out in the second half of the regular season and in the playoffs.
He averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists under Nick Nurse.
